Operations Workshop Supervisor - Swansea

POSITION: Full Time (Note: 3 Months Probationary)

Job brief

Responsible for the day-to-day management of people within the workshop, to ensure the company's targets and objectives are met to meet customer requirements including delivery deadlines. To ensure that staff comply with quality, health, safety and standard operating procedures. Strive to continually improve, reduce costs, and improve production and quality. Act with minimum supervision.

Primary responsibilities

These include but are not limited to:

  • Lead by example, ensuring a safe and efficient workplace is maintained always.
  • Allocation and supervision of all technician’s workloads
  • Achieve the required company quality standards ensuring both internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Ensuring that Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) are monitored and targets achieved.
  • Coordinate with support functions to progress issues concerning production planning and resource/skill allocation to ensure delivery of products to schedule within all relevant quality specifications.
  • Communicate, delivering team briefs with a focus on quality, cost and delivery, and gathering ideas for improvement.
  • Workshop Calibration and Maintenance in accordance with schedules
  • Providing Apprentice Training when required
  • Drive performance of team members, giving direction and feedback to aid good performance.
  • Ensure safe working practices are maintained and 'Standard Operations' adhered to.
  • Working to and with relevant ISO procedures
  • Ensure that non-conformance is challenged and countermeasures are agreed and implemented.
  • Motivate the team to create a high-performance culture where improvement suggestions are embraced.
  • Support the implementation of engineering changes, production trials, model change and pilot build.
  • Report and act upon plant or machinery breakdowns.
  • Working closely with the QEHS department on any issues
  • Ensure that internal delivery processes are adhered to support dispatch.
  • Support the resolution of Customer concerns. Identify and eliminate root causes using robust countermeasures. Sustain the corrective actions to eliminate repeat issues.
  • Ensure all external and internal auditory standards and improvement requirements are met.

Flexibility is Key to the success of lean organisation and in this respect, you may be asked to assist in other departments should time permit. Such requests will not be deemed as unreasonable.

Qualifications and Experience Levels

  • Time served and proven track record within manufacturing supervision. Essential
  • Proven experience of continuous improvement and problem-solving), process improvement and Poka-Yoke techniques. Desirable
  • Understanding production costs to include waste, downtime, scrap and re-work. Desirable
  • Engineering Degree or Equivalent working experience, Desirable
  • Excellent Team Player. Essential
